Corruption on a Moral Scale in Politics written by Playmaker on 09/10/2009 When SC Republican senator Joe Wilson called the president a liar in Obama's recent address to the joint houses of Congress, I was absolutely astonished: http://www.npr.org/templates/story/story.php?storyId=112719344&sc=fb&cc=fp This blog has been highly critical of the GOP and their former leader, G.W. Bush. However, this is not the work of a member of Congress, nor should it be considered as important. Other blogs were even more verbal than I, as were many of the Democratic senators. But in all of that -- throughout one of the most contentious times in the history of the Democratic party -- nobody ever yelled at Bush from the floor of the Senate. Our party did, at least when decorum called for such behavior, treat the despot Bush with respect due his office. How can they cry from the gallery when the very core of our Constitution would be gutted by their own party on the back of lies by their leadership. This blog has said it time and time again, and history will bear it out, no good can come from the hypocrisy of the GOP and her tea-bagging compatriots. The GOP has come into complete bankruptcy of virtue when even the decorum required of Congress and toward the office of our president is assailed. They have no shame. |
